In April of 2011, the del Rosario sisters started a livelihood with the ladies of Aya’s Gawad Kalinga - a community in Multinational Village, Paranaque (Philippines). They chose to teach crochet as it seemed to be a skill easy enough to learn, and it had a lot of practical applications in everyday household items. They began with a handful of ladies making coasters and napkins, but now have a steady group of 26 making bags, poufs, pillows, hand towels, and various other products. The women work from their homes during their free time in between chores and activities. Before this, only 2 of them knew how to crochet. A quick look at the items show how they have progressed so Nicely. Embroidery and macrame have been added to their list of new skills.

All products are carefully hand-crocheted and/or embroidered using local yarn or cotton thread in eye-catching and colorful combinations. They are available for sale through the sisters and in a few local home sales and online stores.

MILVIDAS means “a thousand lives” and represents the sisters’ dream of making a difference. Their hope is that their work will make possible the milvidas mission:

bridging lives, building dreams, bringing color and individual expression to everyday

items one stitch at a time.
